Privacy Policy

GeroSoftInc ("we", "us", or "our") developed SmartLaunch Widget as a free, open-source Android home-screen widget that suggests apps based on your personal usage patterns (similar to iOS Siri Suggestions).

This Privacy Policy explains how the app accesses, processes, and stores information. We are committed to protecting your privacy — everything happens 100% on your device.

1. Required Permissions

To function correctly, SmartLaunch Widget requires the following Android permissions:

PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS

Used to access app usage statistics (requires manual user authorization in Settings).

QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES

Allows the app to see all installed packages to display icons and launch intents.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Allows the app to re-schedule tasks (via WorkManager) after the device reboots.

SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM

Used for exact scheduling of tasks on Android 12 and above.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC

Allows the app to run a foreground service for data synchronization.

2. Information We Access

With your explicit consent (via the PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS permission), the app uses Android’s built-in UsageStatsManager API to query aggregated app usage statistics and events over the past 30 days. This data is used only to calculate on-device predictions for the widget.

3. Data Storage and Processing

All usage data is processed entirely on your device.
Aggregated patterns are stored locally in a private Room database.
No data is ever sent to our servers, to any third party, or to Google (beyond standard Play Services).
No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs are included.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect personal identifiers, location data (unless optionally enabled in future updates), contacts, messages, or any other sensitive information.

5. Data Sharing

We never share, sell, or disclose any data with third parties.

6. Open Source Transparency

The complete source code is available at github.com/GeroSoftInc/SmartLaunch-Privacy.

7. Data Retention

Usage statistics are kept for a maximum of 30 days and automatically pruned. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.

8. Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You can revoke permissions or clear app data at any time in Android Settings. All data stays under your control on your device.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via GitHub.
